Mokokchung Board Approves New Fire Station for Changtongya

Kohima: The Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board greenlit a new fire station for Changtongya town. They pushed the proposal to the state department for final action. The decision came during the monthly September 18 board meeting at the DC conference hall.

Minister for Rural Development and SIRD Metsubo Jamir chaired the session. Deputy Commissioner and Vice-Chairman Ajit Kumar Verma hosted the proceedings. Board members reviewed past minutes before shifting focus to the Nikshay Mitra initiatives. The District Tuberculosis Office manages this program to pair donors with patients. Officials noted a rising count of TB cases and requested more community support to fund care.

The board shifted to broader service goals. They discussed Reform Utsav 2026 to sharpen governance. District Horticulture Officer Dr. B Temjenmenla presented on local department schemes. Minister Jamir pushed staff to master the Public Finance Management System. He expects officials to handle digital payments and government protocols with precision.

Jamir issued a directive to the leadership. "He encouraged members to come up with innovative ideas and to recognise and acknowledge innovative practices and solutions emerging from the grassroots level." He also told officers to maintain government buildings and staff quarters properly.

The Minister wrapped up the session by rolling out a toll-free helpline. The Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change set this up to help people report human and elephant conflicts.
