Kohima: Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma officially set up a specialized sub-committee this Thursday to ramp up skill development and job creation. The panel brings together local administrators, educators, and community leaders. They intend to boost sustainable livelihoods across the entire district.
ADC Mokokchung serves as the convener. T. Imlisunep Ao, the principal of Government ITI Mokokchung, takes on the role of member secretary. Other key appointments include joint director of SARS and president of Mokokchung Ao Officers Telongjem, Lipokonen Jamir, alongside Dr. P. Tiatemsu from Fazl Ali College. The team also features the president of Ao Kaketshir Mungdang, the youth secretary of ABAM Impur, and deputy chairperson of Mokokchung Municipal Council, Lanuakum. Rounding out the board are representatives from Ao Lanur Telongjem, ICIT principal Lanusenla, district employment officer Lucy Lhousineino, and the SDO (C)/EAC (Dev).
The group will map out local job potential and fix skill gaps. Their core mission is to push innovation and vocational training for youth and women. They will also commercialize traditional crafts. According to the official notification, "The committee is tasked with identifying district-specific skill gaps and mapping emerging livelihood opportunities aligned with local economic potential."
Accountability remains a priority. Members must meet at least once every month. They will submit progress reports to the DC’s office for review. If specific development needs arise, the chairperson can bring in outside subject-matter experts to assist. This order is in effect immediately.
