Shillong: Meghalaya pineapples are officially for sale on Swiggy Instamart in Bengaluru. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced the news Thursday. This move links the Jirang Organic Farmer Producer Company directly to urban buyers. The state air-freights the fruit to keep it fresh. Known for a high Brix value, the pineapples boast intense sweetness and aroma.
The government wants better returns for its farmers. By bypassing traditional supply chains, they hope to cut out the middlemen. The Chief Minister touted the platform on X, stating that the initiative allows consumers in Bengaluru to order fresh “Meghalaya Pineapple” directly through the online grocery platform.
This push follows a massive success in New Delhi. Vendors moved 30 metric tonnes of the fruit in just three days at the 4th Meghalaya Pineapple Festival held at Dilli Haat. The state is not stopping there. Officials already signed deals to move more product. Memoranda of Understanding now exist with Flipkart and NCDEX e-Markets Ltd to improve distribution. These partnerships aim to build long-term value for niche agricultural goods.
