Meghalaya Nears Completion of India-Bangladesh Border Fencing

Shillong: Border fencing along the India-Bangladesh line in Meghalaya is nearing completion, according to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. Out of the total length, approximately 400 kilometers of fencing has been installed. Only 40 to 45 kilometers remain to be finished.

Sangma noted that about 10 percent of the project is currently pending due to local concerns. The state government is actively engaging with residents in these areas to address their specific issues and resolve the holdup. He highlighted that progress in Meghalaya is faster than in many other states sharing the border.

This initiative aims to improve security and surveillance while addressing various cross-border challenges. The administration continues to focus on finalizing the remaining sections through ongoing dialogue with local communities.
