Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma launched the Achievers of the Month programme this Tuesday in Shillong. The initiative aims to showcase innovators and business owners to inspire others across the state. Fifty entrepreneurs received recognition during the inaugural event for their grit and success.

Sangma views entrepreneurship as the backbone of the state economy. He claims the government provides the infrastructure, but private citizens drive the real change. He said, "Today, we launched Achievers of the Month to recognize individuals across sectors like sports, arts, entrepreneurship, agriculture, innovation, tourism, education, and social leadership, who are creating opportunities, generating livelihoods and contributing to Meghalaya's growth."

The state has declared July a month dedicated to business promotion. Expect social media campaigns and storytelling sessions featuring local success stories throughout the month. The government wants to move past traditional business models. It aims to support careers in music, sports, and farming as well.

Participants shared stories about the long hours and massive setbacks they faced while starting their ventures. Sangma urged them to keep pushing forward despite the doubts of others. The PRIME programme continues to help rural businesses reach major city markets. Future honors will highlight achievers in education and public service to keep the momentum going.
