Shillong: The Meghalaya Cricket Association kicked out former head coach Hemant Roy and assistant manager Sanjay Mondal. Both men are barred from the association for life. The Meghalaya State Commission for Women found them guilty of sexual harassment against Under-23 players.

The trouble started during team matches in Agartala. Roy allegedly made sexual comments about players and used vulgar language to demean them. Mondal physically assaulted a female player in a hotel room. He blamed his drinking, but the Commission rejected that excuse. MCA President James PK Sangma noted the findings point to a "corroborated pattern of harassment and alleged intimidation of complainants" by the staff.

The association also suspended Secretary Rayonald Kharkamni. He faces a show-cause notice and must explain his role in suppressing the complaints. Sangma accused Kharkamni of blocking the appointment of an Ombudsman to stall justice. The Commission held other former officials responsible for failing to act, but labeled Kharkamni’s conduct the most serious.

Sangma wants the BCCI to step in. He is pushing for mandatory anti-harassment policies and better safety protocols. The MCA expects the national board to review these findings and help clean up the institution. Players waited months for action while officials allegedly tried to silence them.
