Manipur Chief Minister Urges Union Ministry to Accelerate State Highway Projects

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Wednesday to advocate for the swift approval of the proposed Imphal Elevated Highway project. The meeting centered on clearing critical bottlenecks that have stalled major road infrastructure initiatives across the state.

During the briefing, Singh provided updates on the progress of the Imphal-Jiribam and Imphal-Dimapur highways. The Chief Minister confirmed that the state cabinet has approved land compensation for National Highway 37 in Noney district following a revised survey, and construction is now underway. He also reported that officials successfully addressed land and implementation disputes in Kangpokpi district for the Imphal-Dimapur route by securing a special package from the state cabinet.

Regarding the Imphal-Ukhrul-Jessami highway, Singh noted that the state government is actively engaging with stakeholders to settle remaining land-related complications. Following the discussion, the Chief Minister shared an update on social media regarding the Union minister's response. Singh stated, "Gadkari had responded positively to the requests and assured support for the development of Manipur's road infrastructure."
