Manipur activists urge voters to reject cash and liquor at the polls

Imphal: Voters in Thoubal Khunou heard a blunt message on July 10: stop trading your ballot for booze and cash. The Manipur Youth League, or MAYOL, hosted the event at Thoubal Khunou Keithel Macha. They teamed up with the Thoubal Khunou Apunba Meira Paibi to push for clean elections.

Advocate Thokchom Suresh served as the chief guest for the evening. He told the crowd to prioritize honest candidates over personal handouts. He argued that picking the right leader is the only path toward real growth. "Electing honest and capable representatives is essential for ensuring good governance and sustainable development," Suresh said.

Speakers hammered home the need to vet candidates by looking at their records rather than their wallets. MAYOL President Koijam Suresh pushed for a shift in how the public views democracy. He wants voters to focus on long-term vision instead of quick fixes. The campaign aims to ignite public talk on electoral reform across the region.
