Kohima: Lima Aier Higher Secondary School grabbed the top spot at the Inter-School Math Quiz 2026. The All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association Dimapur Unit hosted the event at Little Star Higher Secondary School on October 3. Students Sagarika Roy and Imnasenla Ozukum took home a trophy, certificates, and 30,000 rupees.
Forty-four students from 22 schools battled it out. They started with a preliminary round that cut the field down to 16 teams. The competition narrowed until the final round locked in the winners. Densati Jamir and Tiati Jamir of the host school, Little Star Higher Secondary School, finished as runners-up. They earned 20,000 rupees, a trophy, and certificates.
Teisovi Gerard Meyase, a professor from Kohima Science College, served as the guest of honour. He pushed the kids to sharpen their minds despite the rise of automated answers. He told the students, "Not knowing the answer is not the failure; not trying is the failure."
St Paul Higher Secondary School and Footprints Academy walked away with 4,000 rupees each as consolation prizes. Four other finalists, including Grace Academy, Lampstand Higher Secondary School, Ram Janaki Higher Secondary School, and Little Buds School, collected 2,000 rupees apiece. Luyin Aier and Naitik Thakur served as quiz masters. Hentong T Konyak and Taochila Longkumer handled the MC duties. Sponsors for the prize money included Aboriginal Energy, Nagaland Doors, and Oxford University Press.
