Gangtok: Heavy rains are strangling travel across Sikkim. Landslides wiped out access points across the state on July 9, leaving major corridors choked with debris. National Highway-10, the lifeline between the state and Siliguri, is blocked at 29th Mile, Break Dara, and Hanuman Mandir.

Authorities urge commuters to take the Darjeeling-Teesta road instead. Heavy machinery is currently moving dirt at the 20th Mile on the Rangpo-Singtam road. Officials estimate a quick fix. "Machinery has been deployed at the site, and officials expect the road to reopen in approximately one-and-a-half hours." Traffic is now moving through the Chewribotay-Duga route.

Roads in Gangtok district are open. Other areas are struggling. In Pakyong, the Rorathang-Rangpo road is shut at Chamaray Bhir. Mangan district is mostly clear, though the Chungthang-Lachen road is blocked at Taramchu. Namchi district reports closures at Gogunay and Bedghari. Gyalshing and Soreng are also seeing shutdowns for maintenance and storm damage. Check the latest police reports before you head out.
