Kohima: Kohima officials gathered at the DC Conference Hall on Thursday to map out the Village Prosperity Resilience Plan for 2027-28. The core committee session focused on moving away from paper exercises toward real results. Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem wants action. He told the assembly, "The VPRP must go beyond being a planning document and ensure genuine community needs are translated into effective implementation and tangible outcomes."
State Project Coordinator D. Elow outlined the road map for the initiative. It starts with Self-Help Groups and Village Organisations before moving to the village council level. Line departments must provide technical support and clear data to back these groups. Experts Khriezhatuo Khezhie and Vilalhounuo Solo presented data on non-farm livelihood projects currently operating in the district.
The planning process forces different agencies to work together. Agriculture, Health and Family Welfare, Social Welfare, Rural Development, and Animal Husbandry departments are now under pressure to align their schemes. Plans must merge with the broader Gram Panchayat Development Plan. Buchem ordered special Gram Sabhas to inform villagers and capture their actual needs. Local input drives the final plan.
