Imphal: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Liwa Sarei, Chandel, hosted its foundation day celebration on Wednesday. The auditorium buzzed with activity as the school honored its long history of educational and athletic success. Established in 1988 by the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the school remains a top-tier institution in Manipur.
Principal Dr. Amarson Sankhil praised the staff for their dedication. "For 38 years, the institution has been a symbol of excellence, producing scholars and sportspersons that have excelled in life," Sankhil said. He highlighted the school's commitment to national integration and hard work.
Guests included leaders from Oak Hill Christian Academy, Model Residential School, and Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School. The president of NSUC, the ZEO of Chandel, and local village chiefs also attended. K. Noren Sharma, a Chemistry teacher, opened the event by emphasizing the school's focus on service and academic standards.
Students performed a range of cultural acts, including Anal and Maring traditional dances, alongside the Bamboo dance and Bollywood routines. Teachers awarded certificates to CBSE exam toppers and recognized winners in sports and literary contests. Officials officially named the Champion House for the 2025-26 academic year during the ceremony. The event concluded with the entire crowd joining the students in the national anthem.
