Kohima: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Dimapur celebrated the 98th foundation day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research on July 16. Farmers gathered to watch the national broadcast and discuss scientific agricultural advancements. It was a busy day.
Senior Scientist-cum-Head Dr. Phool Kumari opened the event. She highlighted the long history of ICAR in changing how India farms through research and extension work. The program included a technical lecture from Chief Technical Officer Dr. Bendangla Imsong. She covered essential soybean farming techniques like seed selection, sowing schedules, and pest control.
The center held a tree plantation drive to encourage sustainable practices. The team then handed out 600 kilograms of DSB-32 soybean seeds alongside row markers to farmers from six different villages. Dr. Phool Kumari noted the organization's dedication to "empowering farming communities and promoting sustainable agricultural development."
Farmers asked questions and engaged with the scientists throughout the afternoon. The day ended with a formal vote of thanks.
