Health camp provides free cancer screenings for 275 in Phesama

Kohima: A free multispecialty health camp drew 275 people to the Phesama Village Government Middle School on September 13. Medical teams performed 150 screenings for oral, breast, and cervical cancer. They also finished 31 ultrasound scans, 26 minor general and dental procedures, and 84 diagnostic tests. Staff handed out free medicines to those in need.

The Dr K & T Keditsu Foundation organized the event. They partnered with the National Oral Health Programme, the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare in Nagaland, the Biocon Foundation, and Putuonuo Hospital. The effort required a massive coordination of labor. A total of 42 medical personnel participated in the camp, including six doctors, 34 paramedics from Putuonuo Hospital and private clinics, and eight project staff of the Dr K & T Keditsu Foundation.

The day began with a welcome address from Thejangulie Ciesotsu of the Dr K & T Keditsu Foundation. Dr Kikrukhrietuo Khezhie of Putuonuo Hospital briefed the attendees on camp operations. Dr Neiphrezo Sorünuo, a dental surgeon at NHAK, led an oral health and cancer awareness session. As Dr Thorsie Katiry offered the prayer, village council chair Tuolie Seleyi proposed the final vote of thanks. The foundation remains committed to community health. "A total of 150 free screenings for oral, breast and cervical cancer were conducted, besides 31 ultrasound scans, 26 minor general and dental procedures and 84 diagnostic tests," officials noted.
