Guwahati: British virtual band Gorillaz brings their first India tour to Guwahati on January 31, 2027. The performance takes place at Sarusajai Stadium. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the news on X. He said, "Guwahati is proud to be among the host cities for this landmark tour. Looking forward to welcoming the band and fans from across the country to Assam."
The band features animated members 2D on vocals, Murdoc Niccals on bass, Noodle on guitar, and Russel Hobbs on drums. Their 2001 debut album sold six million copies. It earned them a Guinness World Record for the most successful virtual band. The 2005 release Demon Days topped UK charts and delivered the Grammy-winning track Feel Good Inc. They have released nine studio albums total. Their newest work is 2026's The Mountain.
Guwahati serves as the third and final stop of the tour. Bengaluru hosts the band on January 23. Mumbai hosts them on January 27. The tour promotes The Mountain, which features collaborations with Anoushka Shankar and Asha Bhosle. Much of the album was recorded in India. Official posters suggest the live show will mix the band's animated aesthetic with local Assamese culture. Fans can track ticket updates through District by Zomato.
