Guwahati: A Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) employee took a beating during an eviction drive in the Hatigaon area on the evening of September 16. The worker wore his uniform while his team cleared out illegal commercial businesses. Things went south fast. A mob chased the official before turning violent.

Witnesses caught the chaos on camera. The footage shows a crowd swarming the eviction team, shouting and pushing. Officials have not released the name of the victim yet. It remains unclear what specific spark ignited the confrontation at the site.

Authorities have stayed quiet on the aftermath. No arrests were confirmed as investigators try to pin down exactly who attacked the worker. Details are still coming in. Officials have not stated if legal action will follow the assault, noting, "The identity of the GMC employee who was allegedly assaulted has not been ascertained so far."
