Garo Hills District Council Member Habibuz Zaman Dies at 46

Shillong: Habibuz Zaman died in New Delhi on Friday. The 46-year-old served as the sitting MDC for the Shyamnagar constituency within the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council. He spent two years fighting a blood clot in his brain.

Zaman received medical treatment in the national capital until his death. His remains arrived at his parental home in Chibinang on Saturday afternoon. A member of the NPP, he worked closely with Phulbari MLA AT Mondal.

The GHADC shut down for a one-day holiday on Friday to honor his memory. Family members formally confirmed the news on Saturday. Initial reports remained scattered while he stayed in critical care, but the situation is now clear. As one representative noted, "His mortal remains were brought back to his parental home in Chibinang on Saturday afternoon."
