Flooding Destroys Jharnapani-Molvom Bridge

Kohima: Incessant rainfall washed away the temporary bridge between Jharnapani and Molvom on August 5. The collapse severed the link between Chümoukedima and Peren districts. Dimapur Commissioner of Police Aotula T. Imchen issued an emergency advisory to re-route all traffic. Drivers must find other ways to reach Jalukie and Peren.

Light motor vehicle operators should use the path from 7th Mile Junction in Chümoukedima to Pimla Village via Shokhuvi Village. A second option runs from New Chümoukedima through the Iron Structure Bridge to Gaili Village via Ruzaphema Village. Another path leads from Medziphema to Punglwa Village via Sirhi Angami Village and Sochunoma Village.

Heavy motor vehicles face strict limitations. These trucks are barred from using the alternate routes and authorities will only allow them to move once the bridge is fixed. The commissioner stated that travellers must use designated alternate routes with immediate effect.
