Guwahati: Sahura Khatun, a woman over 60, died after falling into a water-filled room at her home in Dighliati village, Assam. The tragic incident occurred in the Mahguri area under the Juria Police Station in Nagaon district. Neighbors claim the flooding stemmed from a heated land dispute involving Aminul Islam and Hanufa Khatun.
Locals allege the pair built a concrete boundary wall that blocked rainwater from escaping. This wall trapped water inside the victim's house. She eventually fell into the deep standing water and died. The exact cause and timing of her death remain under investigation.
Juria Police arrived at the scene shortly after the discovery. They have started a formal inquiry to untangle the facts. "Further details are expected to emerge after the police inquiry," officials noted. The death has rattled Dighliati village as investigators probe the role the wall played in the flooding.
