Guwahati: A lawyer allegedly drove drunk and triggered a hit-and-run spree across Morigaon, Assam. The driver caused multiple crashes. At least four people suffered injuries, two of them critically. The vehicle, tagged AS 21M 3536, slammed into several cars and bikes in the center of town. It then hit a pedestrian and a cyclist outside a higher secondary school. The driver kept going and hit another motorcycle near Vishal Mega Mart.
A burst tyre finally stopped the car near the mart. Angry residents nabbed the driver, identified as Bitu Bora, and beat him before officers arrived. Police moved Bora and the victims to Morigaon Civil Hospital. The injured include Muktar Hussain, Nazrul Ahmed, and Tanmoy Mahanta. Bora faces accusations of drunken driving. Reports say he acted out at the hospital, where he "obstructed medical personnel from providing treatment." Police are currently investigating the incident.
