Delhi Police File FIR After Rahul Gandhi Protests Pellet Gun Case

Shillong: Delhi Police filed a First Information Report against unknown individuals on Friday. The action followed an eight-hour sit-in protest by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi outside the Parliament Street Police Station. Gandhi demanded justice for Sahil Lochab, a student who suffered injuries from 200 pellets.

Lochab spent days trying to file his report. He visited the station repeatedly starting August 14 but faced consistent refusal. The breakthrough came only after Gandhi arrived to back the family. Lochab credits the opposition leader for the result.

"I am thankful to Rahul Gandhi ji who sat here for eight hours following which this FIR was registered," Lochab said. The victim noted that Gandhi’s team tracked his health for a month before the protest. Despite the eventual filing, Lochab remains frustrated that police required high-level intervention to do their jobs.

Lochab’s mother also thanked the politician for his role in the case. The student credited public prayers for his physical recovery. He now views the registration of the FIR as a victory for justice.
