Broken approach road leaves Bongaigaon bridge stranded

Guwahati: A concrete bridge in Assam's Bongaigaon district stands abandoned. The structure sits isolated in the middle of a gap at Shmashanpara in Dewangaon village. Rainwater eroded the earthen approach road that once connected the span to solid ground. The bridge now connects to nothing. It serves no one.

Officials built the structure to provide access to the local Model Anganwadi Centre. That plan failed. Heavy rains washed out the path, and crews never returned to fix the damage. Residents report the gap has remained unrepaired for a long time. The bridge remains intact, but the lack of a road makes it impossible to reach the facility it was meant to serve. This project is a clear example of how, as local residents say, "the washed-out approach has remained unrepaired for a prolonged period, leaving the bridge suspended without functional connectivity."
