Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says the state government now processes pensions through the FinAssam system a full year before an employee reaches retirement. The digital push eliminates the need for manual applications and physical transport of service registers to Guwahati. It saves time. District-Level Standing Committees now handle local verification of service records and pay fixations, issuing digital Service Verification Certificates to keep the pipeline moving.

The system automatically builds retirement profiles exactly 12 months ahead of superannuation. Figures show 11,047 employees are already onboarded, and 3,970 workers have successfully received their Pension Payment Orders before clocking out for the final time. Regarding the digital shift, the Chief Minister stated, "The process begins 12 months before an employee’s retirement."

Technology anchors the new workflow. Officials use NICDSign 3.0 to authenticate all pension proposals, while secure QR codes and official documents appear directly in DigiLocker. This automation targets total paperless efficiency for those set to retire in 2026-27. No more red tape.
