Assam PHE Workers Claim Mistreatment by Officials

Guwahati: Temporary workers in Morigaon are fuming. Members of the All Assam PHE Temporary Workers Employees Council central committee reported being subjected to insulting and improper conduct inside the office of the Chief Engineer. The group arrived on September 24 with official permission to meet the state leadership. Instead, they walked into a wall of hostility.

The delegates left the chamber shocked by the exchange. The Morigaon district unit of the council held a press conference to blast the department for the lack of professional respect shown to their representatives. They want authorities to launch a formal investigation into the encounter immediately. "Insulting" behavior will not be tolerated, they stated.

The union remains dug in. They plan to keep pushing for better treatment of PHE temporary workers across the state. They are waiting for a formal response from the department regarding the incident.
