Guwahati: Samagra Shiksha, Assam signed six memorandums of understanding to overhaul the state's school system. The initiative brings AI and digital innovation into classrooms. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu wants better learning outcomes. He believes these partnerships will modernize how students learn and teachers instruct.
Google AI will provide digital tools and professional development for instructors. IIT Madras and Bodhan AI are teaming up to train 100,000 teachers. This massive effort covers grades six through twelve. They plan to wrap up the training by May 2027.
LEHS and Wadhwani AI will test students on reading fluency. Educate Girls is tackling student retention. Their primary mission involves finding and enrolling out-of-school adolescents, specifically girls. EkStep and AXL will target foundational literacy and numeracy through personalized AI support.
Canva Education is joining the push. They will teach digital literacy and design thinking to staff and students. "The collaborations will focus on harnessing Artificial Intelligence, technology and innovation to improve learning outcomes and empower teachers and students," Pegu said. These moves aim to build a learner-centric ecosystem for the entire state.

The state is launching a pilot project in 70 schools to jumpstart these AI efforts. Teachers in these classrooms will use a specialized platform from IIT Madras to design their lesson plans. Google AI is also onboard to help instructors use tech tools for classroom preparation and lesson design.
