Guwahati: A local youth has accused forest personnel of beating him and trying to frame him for drug trafficking in the Kachuwa area of Assam. The trouble started near an eviction site. The man pulled his scooter over to make a phone call, sparking a confrontation with a forest guard who was not in uniform.
The argument turned physical. The victim claimed he did not recognize the aggressor as a government official. Despite his pleas for mercy, the situation worsened. Personnel took him to a nearby forest camp. There, he says they beat him again. The victim alleged that officials placed a container of narcotics in his hands to photograph him, attempting to implicate him in a fake drug case. He stated, "The complainant further alleged that despite repeatedly apologising and pleading for mercy, he was assaulted and later taken to a nearby forest camp."
The youth filed a formal complaint at the Kachuwa Police Station to demand legal action. Medical staff in Nagaon are now treating him for his injuries. Police and Forest Department officials have remained silent. No one has commented on the claims, and the investigation remains pending.
