Guwahati: Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia hit back at Rahul Gandhi on Sunday, August 30. He accused the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition of lacking real issues to discuss. The tension stems from a political firestorm in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. A rally held by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge drew heat after an alleged purification ritual occurred at the site.
Gandhi condemned the event as blatant caste discrimination. He demanded swift action against the people involved. Saikia tossed those claims aside. He argued that the Congress party misrepresented the facts of the incident to spark outrage. The BJP leader urged Gandhi to drop the rhetoric and start reading up on Indian history, culture, and traditional heroism. He finds Gandhi's stance hollow.
"Rahul Gandhi has no substantive public issues to raise. People do not take his remarks seriously and dismiss them lightly," Saikia said. The BJP chief maintains that the public ignores the Congress leader's frequent complaints. He holds no specific demands for Gandhi beyond a deeper study of the country's heritage.
