Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona kicked off final preparations for the 14th International Tourism Mart this week. The event runs from October 27 to November 1 in Tawang. Officials from the Union Ministry of Tourism, the state tourism department, and representatives from Tawang and West Kameng districts met to sync their plans. The clock is ticking.
Delegates from roughly 20 countries will touch down in the region for the event. Sona pushed for a unified front to manage the influx. Coordination is the top priority. This includes logistics, transport, local hospitality, and hotel bookings. Organizers want the effort to reach well past the event site. They want visitors to see the real Arunachal.
The minister urged his team to stay sharp. He said, “We have to be fully prepared to welcome our guests and present the best of the state to the world.” The mart connects regional tour operators and businesses with international buyers, sellers, and media outlets. It targets both domestic and global travelers.
Tawang last hosted the mart in 2013. The district hopes to put its mountain scenery, Buddhist heritage, and Monpa culture on the map. Key local sites such as the Tawang Monastery, Sela Pass, Nuranang Falls, and various high-altitude lakes anchor the experience. Sona wants these visitors to leave with a lasting impression. He expects the team to function as a single unit to ensure the event runs without a hitch.
