A fresh report from the Association for Democratic Reforms confirms his net worth sits at 332.56 crore rupees. He is now one of only four billionaire chief ministers nationwide. He carries heavy debt. His liabilities total 180.27 crore rupees, ranking him second in the country behind Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar.
The data stems from self-sworn election affidavits covering 31 chief ministers across 28 states and three Union Territories. The average asset value among these leaders hits 118.07 crore rupees. Total combined assets for this group reach 3,660 crore rupees with an average income of 6.54 crore rupees.
Regional wealth varies wildly. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma declared 14.06 crore rupees, placing him among the lowest in the Northeast. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha follows him with 13.90 crore rupees. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio holds 46.95 crore rupees, ranking fifth in the entire nation. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared 35.16 crore rupees in assets and 16.86 crore rupees in liabilities. Other regional leaders show smaller holdings: Sikkim CM PS Tamang has 6.69 crore, Mizoram CM Lalduhoma has 4.13 crore, and Manipur CM N. Biren Singh reports 2.38 crore. The study paints a stark picture of political wealth.
