Kohima: The Wokha Town Council started building a new parking lot at Police Point on July 11. Crews are working to fix heavy traffic and messy parking at one of the town’s busiest junctions. Bad weather and high traffic volume have hampered the work so far.
Chairperson Myingthungo Kikon said the council wants the job done fast. They are working late into the night when they can. The council aims to finish the current stretch by the end of this week, provided the weather stays clear. Once they wrap up this section, they plan to expand the project toward the Axis Bank area in the next phase.
Commuters face restricted movement and limited parking while construction continues. Kikon asked the public to show patience during these delays. "The ongoing work may cause temporary inconvenience, but we kindly request the public to cooperate with us. This development is being carried out for the benefit of everyone and is aimed at providing a proper parking area for the public," Kikon said. The council expects the finished site to cut down on roadside parking and speed up traffic flow.
