Shillong: Voice of the People Party candidate Dr. Batskhem Myrboh is ramping up his campaign for the Shillong Parliamentary by-election. During a recent rally in the Mawthadraishan constituency, he encouraged residents to prioritize accountability and integrity over financial incentives.

Addressing local voters and party supporters at Kynshi Mawria, Myrboh emphasized that his party remains engaged with public issues year-round rather than appearing only during election cycles. He stated that the VPP prefers to hold the government responsible for its actions instead of focusing on personal attacks against political rivals.

Myrboh took a strong stance against the practice of purchasing votes. He argued that relying on cash to sway electoral outcomes damages democratic principles and prevents true leadership from emerging. He told the gathering, "The use of money to influence electoral outcomes weakens democratic values and undermines the principles of good governance."

The candidate urged the electorate to make decisions based on a nominee’s performance and the public interest. This rally is part of a broader effort by the VPP to build momentum across the constituency before voters head to the polls.
