Shillong: A viral social media campaign is rocking Shillong. Posts currently circulating online accuse a local youth of serial sexual exploitation. The digital firestorm claims the man preyed on multiple women and used threats to release private videos as leverage. One post even alleges that a victim became pregnant.
Public anger is peaking. Residents want answers and accountability. Yet, the legal process remains stalled. Police have not received a single formal complaint from any of the alleged victims mentioned in the posts.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that authorities are tracking the digital chatter. He noted that the investigation is ongoing despite the silence from those involved. "We have seen the picture of the alleged accused. The girl does not want to file an FIR. We are enquiring into this," Syiem said.
Officers are digging into the claims while the photograph of the suspect continues to spread. For now, the case sits in a state of limbo as police wait for a victim to step forward.
