Aizawl: Authorities in Assam's Cachar district have taken two men from Mizoram into custody following reports of an unauthorized biometric data collection campaign. The individuals, identified as 33-year-old Vanlalrinchhana and 34-year-old Raymond Vatha Chozah, were arrested after police investigated a registration drive held at a Silchar marriage hall earlier this week.

According to Cachar Additional Superintendent of Police Rajat Pal, the accused had been operating in the area for several months. They reportedly convinced more than 200 local youths to provide facial recognition scans and other biometric information by promising small monetary payments. When questioned by investigators, the suspects failed to provide valid documentation or official authorization for the exercise.
