Shillong: Construction at the Doldegre IT Park in Tura is moving fast. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told the Assembly on Friday that the project reached 78.67 percent physical progress. Financial records show 75 percent of the budget is already spent. The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region sanctioned 126.94 crore rupees for the site. That entire amount is now in state hands.
Sangma addressed inquiries from Gambegre MLA Dr. Mehtab Chandee A Sangma regarding the development timeline. Officials want to ensure the facility generates immediate value. They are talking to firms already operating in the Shillong Technology Park about opening satellite offices in Tura. State agencies like PRIME, the Meghalaya Investment Promotion Authority, Invest India, and Nasscom are coordinating to fill the space.
The government wants to curb local unemployment. Sangma said, "The broader objective is to create employment opportunities for young people in the state by attracting technology-related activities and enterprises to the facility." Plans include hosting dedicated Skill Development Centres and Incubation Centres. These additions will provide training and support for aspiring entrepreneurs across the region.
