Agartala: Residents of Ujan Pathalia Ghat are fed up. They staged a protest against a stretch of road that has been falling apart for three years. The route starts near the Bishramganj Dewan Bazar national highway and the 11th TSR Battalion Headquarters. It winds through Pathalia Ghat to Guniraibari, but currently, it is a mess. Rainwater fills massive potholes. The road looks like a string of ponds.

Commuters are paying the price. Auto drivers, cyclists, and motorcyclists hit waterlogged craters daily. Accidents are common. Students heading to school often walk barefoot to avoid ruining their shoes. Farmers cannot move crops to the Bishramganj market. Auto drivers are losing money on weekly repair bills. Locals told reporters that the issue is central to their demands. One resident stated, "residents will demand road restoration as their primary condition before extending electoral support."

The people say nobody is listening. They notified the Jampuijala block administration and the Takarzala PWD office, but nothing changed. They also claim that MDC Buddha Kumar Debbarma has not visited since he won his seat. Tribal communities in the hilly region feel ignored while roads in the plains get fixed. With village committee elections on the horizon, the pressure is mounting on the ADC administration and the state government to act fast.
