Tangkhul Student Group Honors Top Achievers in Ukhrul

Imphal: The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong honored 45 students and high achievers during the 6th TKS Top Performers and Achievers Award in Ukhrul on August 1. The event took place at the TGB-125 Hall within the TBCA Mission Compound in Alungtang. Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah attended as the chief guest alongside leaders from groups including the Tangkhul Naga Long, Tangkhul Naga Awunga Long, Tangkhul Mayar Naga Long, Tangkhul Shanao Long, and Hunphun Katamnao Long.

Awards went to top students from the HSLC and HSSLC exams under boards like BOSEM and COHSEM. The group also recognized individuals who excelled in sports, higher education, and public service. This list included three successful Manipur Public Service Commission candidates and Yurgam Zimik, who holds an AFC A Football Coaching Licence.

Muivah pushed for more focus on schooling and personal integrity. He pointed to nations like Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan as models for growth through human capital. He told the crowd, "Success is built on discipline, sacrifice and perseverance."

TKS president Eno Ramreichan Keishing noted a sharp drop in winners, falling from over 100 at the first ceremony to 45 today. He urged the community to band together to boost student potential. The event ended with a demand for better investment in leadership and education for the Tangkhul people.
