Shillong: NECTAR in Shillong and Bengaluru’s CeNS teamed up with St. Anthony’s College to run the Nano Jatha 2026 science roadshow. The two-day event prepared students for the Bengaluru India Nano 2026 conference. Training started July 23. Students used specialized kits to run interactive experiments.
The main event hit on July 24 with academic competitions and lectures. NECTAR Director General Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma attended as chief guest. He pushed for bringing frontier science to the grassroots level. He said, "The importance of bringing frontier science to grassroots and student communities across the Northeast" remains a top priority.
CeNS scientist Prof. CV Yelamaggad detailed recent field developments. A nanoscience quiz followed his lecture. Trainees also showed off experiments at an exhibition. St. Anthony’s College Rector Fr. Ioannis War Pakma addressed the crowd before organizers handed out cash prizes and certificates to winners.
NECTAR Advisor Dr. Collin Z. Renthlei closed the event with a valedictory address. He highlighted how these efforts build curiosity and practical skills in young people for emerging technologies.
