Imphal: Manipur authorities moved fast on August 27. The Special CDO Unit swarmed a house in Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai to pull in a target. They arrested Elangbam Robichandra Singh, a 47-year-old man identified as a cadre for the proscribed United People’s Party of Kangleipak.

Singh, the son of E. Kumar Singh, faced immediate detention. Security officials claim the man spent his time recruiting a resident of Hiyanglam Warkhong into the illegal organization. The outfit remains banned under law.

The unit continues its work. Detectives are digging into his background to figure out the full scope of his activities. As the security forces put it, "Further investigation is underway to ascertain his alleged links and activities associated with the banned organisation."
