Guwahati: Silchar MLA Zubair Anam Majumdar turned his campaign trail into a standoff against local law enforcement. He publicly hammered the Cachar police and the Officer-in-Charge of the Silchar Sadar Police Station over their conduct. He claims the force has abandoned impartiality to serve the ruling party.
Majumdar leveled these accusations during a stop for Congress candidates running in the Silchar Municipal Corporation elections. The heat is rising. He issued a blunt ultimatum to officers regarding their future. "When we come to power, we will see," the MLA said.
The ruling camp fired back at the comments. Political friction is spiking as parties scramble for votes. The police have stayed silent so far. They have not issued a public response to the allegations leveled by the legislator.
