Gangtok: Sikkim’s Zuluk region has earned national recognition after winning the Most Instagrammable Landscape award for its famous hairpin bends at the India Today Tourism Survey and Awards 2026. The ceremony, held in Goa, celebrated the location for its striking Himalayan vistas and popularity among tourists and photographers.
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant presented the trophy to the Sikkim delegation. Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Tshering T. Bhutia accepted the honour alongside department chairman Sonam Norgay Lachungpa.
Minister Bhutia used the event to participate in a national tourism conclave, where he showcased the state’s potential in adventure travel, cultural heritage, and sustainable practices. He emphasized that the government is currently prioritizing better infrastructure and community-driven tourism projects to protect the regional mountain ecosystem.
Regarding the achievement, Bhutia said, "The award reflects the combined efforts of the government, local communities and tourism stakeholders in promoting Sikkim’s tourism sector." State officials expect the accolade to increase interest from both domestic and international visitors while reinforcing their long-term commitment to ecological and cultural preservation.
