Shillong Man Absconding After Viral Sexual Exploitation Allegations

Shillong: A Shillong youth is on the run. He faces explosive online allegations of serial sexual exploitation, intimidation, and blackmail. The accused reportedly fled the city after a social media post went viral, sparking massive public outrage. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that an FIR was officially registered at the Laitumkhrah Police Station on July 7.

The viral posts claim the man targeted multiple young women over a long period. He allegedly used threats of leaking private videos to keep his victims silent. One claim states a victim became pregnant. Police initially tracked leads to Mizoram, but confirmed the suspect did not go there. He is now hiding elsewhere. "If he had gone home for a holiday, he should have informed. But no one knows his whereabouts. After the post went viral, he fled and is now absconding. The investigation is progressing, and it is only a matter of time before we arrest him," Syiem said.

The Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken suo motu cognisance of the case. Chairperson Agatha K. Sangma confirmed authorities are actively reaching out to other potential victims. While only one victim has formally stepped forward, investigators believe the true count is higher. The Young Mizo Association is also involved. President Ricky Renthlei stated the group tracked the youth moving toward Aizawl from Guwahati and is now assisting local police. Officers continue to urge any additional victims to file reports.
