Security Forces Arrest Five Insurgents in Manipur Raids

Imphal: Security forces and Manipur Police swept through valley districts over the last 36 hours. They arrested five suspected members of banned insurgent groups. The crackdown netted weapons, ammo, and documents. Two vehicles were also seized.

Officers nabbed Salam Bijanda Singh near Karkinos Hospital. He allegedly belongs to the United People’s Party of Kangleipak. In separate hits, teams picked up Thongam Preethyngamba Meitei and Md. Motim. Both reportedly work for the Kangleipak Communist Party-Nongdrenkhomba. Officials claimed Motim was "involved in extortion activities."

Security personnel also tracked down Shaikhom Sunil Singh in Thoubal district. They seized his Alto car during the bust. Nearby, forces caught Chagisongtanbou Nkhamnamai near a football turf. They found an SLR rifle and ten live rounds in his possession along with a Bolero vehicle.

Police took custody of all five men. The seized gear and vehicles are now part of the ongoing investigation.
