Satoi Range Groups Demand Tax-Free Development Funds

Kohima: Three major stakeholder groups in Zunheboto have demanded an end to taxation on local development funds. The Satoi Range GBs Association, the Satoi Range Students Union, and the Satoi Range Sumi Totimi Loka issued a joint appeal on September 30. They want total tax exemption for projects, specifically the long-awaited Zhekiye to Satoi road. Money is disappearing. This theft hurts remote communities.

The region suffers from poor roads, bad healthcare, and limited education. Residents hope current projects will finally bridge these gaps. The groups warned that financial deductions block essential progress. They expect contractors, agencies, and government departments to follow all design specifications and quality standards. Any substandard work or delays will face serious pushback. The coalition intends to monitor every site to protect the interests of local residents.

They also asked the State Government, the district administration, and law enforcement to guarantee safety for workers. Interference must stop. The stakeholders emphasized the urgency of the situation in their official statement. “The people of Satoi have waited for decades for meaningful connectivity and development. This opportunity must not be compromised. Development funds must reach development works, and development works must reach the people,” the groups stated.

The joint statement was signed by SRGBA president H. Hokato Zhimo, SRSU president Hinovi T. Achumi, and SRSTL president Katoli Sema. These leaders specifically targeted Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) in their formal request to keep project coffers untouched.

The organizations highlighted that the Satoi Range boasts rich biodiversity and cultural heritage, yet decades of isolation and neglect have stifled growth in the area.
