Protesters Demand Arrests After Assault on Two Hindu Youths in Sribhumi

Guwahati: Hundreds of protesters marched through Sribhumi on July 17 to demand the immediate arrest of the prime suspect behind a violent group assault. Tensions are running high. The Sanatani Aikya Manch organized the massive demonstration to call for justice after Biswajit Das and Samrat Nag were severely injured in an attack on July 12.

Police have caught three suspects so far. Despite these arrests, the main perpetrator remains free. Angry locals previously rallied outside the Longai Outpost to vent their frustration at the sluggish investigation. The group claims a disturbing rise in violence against Hindu youths, arguing that the administration has consistently failed to take the action required to stop it.

Protesters filled the streets with slogans and demands for exemplary punishment. The demonstration ended when members of the organization submitted a formal memorandum to the district administration. They urged officials to ensure that "all those involved are brought to justice" before further incidents occur.
