Police Seize Beef and Detain Six in Assam Cow Slaughter Raid

Guwahati: Jakhalabandha police raided a house in Chikni Borhola and seized 1.12 quintal of beef. Officers moved in after reports that Abdul Hamid used his home to run an illegal slaughterhouse. Tensions boiled over in the community. Local residents feared the operation, which allegedly included the slaughter of a pregnant cow and its calf.

Members of the Bharatiya Go Raksha Bahini joined police to execute the operation. Authorities detained Abdul Hamid, Joseph Nayak, Rafiqul Islam, and Dalal Uddin. They also caught two unnamed individuals who had arrived to buy meat. Two other suspects escaped during the raid. Police seized the head of the slaughtered animal alongside two three-wheelers and three motorcycles found at the scene.

Investigations into the illicit trade are ongoing. Police noted that "further details are awaited" as they process the evidence from the site. Officers continue to search for the two suspects who fled the property.
