Guwahati: A 26-year-old police constable, Dipamoni Hira, was found dead on Sunday at her rented home in the Panikhaiti area of Guwahati. Hira had been stationed at the local Panikhaiti Police Station and had lived alone in the residence for three years.

Concerns were raised when the officer's husband, who resides in Nagaon, failed to reach her by phone throughout Sunday morning. After his repeated attempts to contact her proved unsuccessful, he reached out to the landlord and asked for the home to be checked. Upon entering the property, the landlord discovered Hira and alerted the local authorities.

Police personnel and forensic experts arrived at the scene to launch an inquiry into the circumstances of her death. Officials confirmed that a note was recovered from the room, though its contents remain undisclosed. Authorities stated that the body will be sent for a post-mortem examination in the presence of a magistrate to ascertain the cause of death. As the investigation continues, senior officers noted, "The exact circumstances and cause behind the incident are yet to be determined."
