NPP to Decide Rajya Sabha Candidate Through Internal Consensus

Shillong: The National People's Party plans to select its candidate for the June 18 Rajya Sabha election through collective internal dialogue. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma confirmed that party legislators will meet to finalize their approach, emphasizing that the organization operates through a democratic process rather than a centralized high command system.

Addressing reports of internal friction, Sangma argued that varying perspectives among members represent a healthy political environment rather than genuine division. He dismissed recent allegations from MPCC president Vincent H. Pala regarding cracks within the ruling party. Sangma suggested that Pala should focus on the internal challenges facing the Congress instead of speculating on the affairs of the NPP.
