NPP Lok Sabha candidate prioritizes Inner Line Permit and Khasi language status

Shillong: National People’s Party candidate Dr. DRL Nonglait has outlined his primary goals for the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha by-election. During a campaign rally in Wahkaji village, he emphasized that securing the Inner Line Permit and adding the Khasi language to the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution are his top priorities.

Nonglait stressed that success depends on a unified approach between the Member of Parliament and the state government. He argued that representatives must coordinate with state leadership to present a united front to the Prime Minister and Home Minister. He pointed to the successful efforts in Assam to gain recognition for the Bodo language as a model for this collaborative strategy.

Beyond these core demands, the candidate intends to focus on boosting the state agricultural budget and strengthening the education sector. He noted that he has already reviewed these goals with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and the two Deputy Chief Ministers, receiving their backing for his vision.
