Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway overhauled its timetable this week. Tracks settled near New Harangajao Station, forcing immediate repairs on Line-1 and Line-2. Trains now crawl through on Line-3 under strict safety protocols. Crews are working around the clock to fix the damage.
The agency axed two major routes. The August 14 Guwahati-Silchar Express and the August 15 Silchar-Guwahati Express are officially off the board. Several other departures shifted to late night slots to keep the network moving. The Narangi-Agartala Express leaves Narangi at 10:30 pm on August 14, while the Agartala-Narangi Express departs Agartala at 11:30 pm that same night.
Additional schedule tweaks hit the Guwahati-Sairang Express, now leaving at 11:30 pm on August 14, and the Sairang-Guwahati Express, set to depart Sairang at 9:30 pm. The Rangiya-Silchar Express rolls out of Rangiya at 11:30 pm on August 14, with the Silchar-Rangiya return leg leaving at 5 am on August 15. The Anand Vihar Terminal-Sairang Express will now depart Sairang at 9:10 pm on August 14.
Officials are monitoring the Anand Vihar Terminal-Agartala Tejas Express. That train left on August 12 and will face regulation at various points along the line. Railway authorities stated, "The temporary changes are intended to support restoration activities and maintain safe train movement through the affected hill section." Passengers should verify their departure times before heading to the station.
