Imphal: The National Identity Protection Council held its 26th Foundation Day at Lamyangba Shanglen in the Palace Compound today. The event featured United People’s Front advisor Laishangbam Jadumani as the lead speaker. He told the crowd that ancestors once defended this land alone. He urged the modern generation to carry that same burden.
Jadumani pushed for indigenous unity across the state. He warned against painting the entire Kuki community as an enemy. Instead, he argued for a brotherhood that includes smaller communities and honors the state's deep history. He insisted that the focus must shift away from internal squabbles. "The entire Kuki community should not be treated as an enemy," he said. He believes that outsiders and armed elements require firm action, while local groups should pull together as one nation.
The advisor blamed the Government of India for stoking tensions through divide and rule tactics. He demanded that citizens stop blaming each other and start looking for the real triggers of the ongoing violence. He wants people to see the forces causing these fatal divisions. The meeting included notable figures like NIPCO president Oinam Premjit and COCOMI convenor YK Dhiren. Dr. Yumnam Premananda of Manipur University and NIPCO adviser Sunil Karam also attended. The group now hopes to find a path toward lasting peace.
